Courses: One Year Garden Design Diploma Our one year Garden Design Diploma programme is the first garden design course aimed at providing a master class every day for its students. The Diploma is led by Andrew Wilson, widely acknowledged as one of the UK’s leading garden design lecturers, who has been at the forefront of garden design teaching in the UK and overseas, for some 20 years. We’ve taken a new, fresh approach by arming students with professional skills not always offered at other more traditional colleges. As well as core design and plant skills we provide intensive business and construction teaching so that students can launch successful businesses as soon as they graduate. And with the support of many of the world’s leading garden designers we are often able to introduce students to immediate work placements and design positions. For more information click on the Diploma course button. Short Courses Our garden design short courses offer practical skills and inspirational teaching through which garden designers and landscape professionals can benefit and expand their skills. Descriptions: The evolution of existing and emergence of new technologies has profound implications for products, the people who use them and the cultures in which they are placed. This is both an exciting and daunting proposition. Innovative Product Design aims to educate hybrid designers who have the ability to evaluate and creatively use technology in a design context. Through sensitively and critically assessing the needs of people we hope our graduates can design products that have a positive impact on our changing society.

University of Central Lancashire
Descriptions: The Northern School of Design @ UCLAN offers Product Design in two flavours; BA and BSc. We look for individuals who display enthusiasm, dedication and humour. Our students are fascinated by the problems of 'how things work' and are constantly prepared to challenge existing assumptions with a simple question: 'why?' Students deal with the technical issues of materials and manufacturing, justifying and proving designs, as well as putting great emphasis on the aesthetics, styling and usability of products. The course has strong and growing links with industry and 'live' project work is embedded within the course structure. Students are given the opportunity to work with clients and designers throughout the course. In addition, competitions are used as a vehicle to drive a creative activity. The course has worked with regional, national and international brands. Notable work this year includes projects with LG Electronics, Kooltrade Ltd (baby wares) and Martin Yaffe International (toys).

Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design, Dundee University
Descriptions: As an Innovative Product Design student you will study, at any one time, modules in Product Design, Design Studies and Technology module. The format of delivery for modules varies depending on the exact subject matter being disseminated but includes practical project sessions, in-studio activity, lectures, seminars, field trips, workshops, tutorials and independent study. A considerable amount of exposure to those with industrial experience of product development (both staff and visiting guests) is key to student’s development. The main aim of the Product Design modules is that of practical, hands on learning, providing students with the opportunity to explore through a design project what they have learnt in some of the more formal sessions. In studio, we aim to provide a learning environment in which staff and students work together on projects.
