The judges cited ‘a combination of strong personal narrative with an eclectic visual approach with which he has created a unique collection which illustrates the very best of British eccentricity.’

His early career included playing as part of a travelling family band and then followed a period of about 15 years as a ‘rock’n roll’ musician working with the likes of Alesha’s Attic and the Eurythmics before applying to Glasgow School of Art. His mentors Joanie Jack (who worked for Missoni) and Helena Britt insisted that he studied printed textiles. Paul hopes to see his fabrics in locations such as boutique hotels and ideally would like to work with Hemmingway Designs whose diversity he admires.  Paul commented that he ‘really appreciates this honour, and needs as much help as he can get!’ His wife had a baby daughter just two weeks ago.
