Lorna Syson in a new and exciting British graduate, her current collection is ‘Pattern on Pattern,’ it’s an amalgamation of natural organic forms layered with manmade geometric shapes. The main inspiration came from a trip to Morocco.

She has brought together the opposing patterns and made them complement each other with a common colour pallet and ideas. The work tries to echo the geometric shapes of traditional mosaics with the smooth organic lines of flowers and plant life.

These patterns represent the on going battle between the organic, uncontrolled, wildness of nature compared to the measured rigidness of manmade geometric patterns. It represents that no matter how beautiful the man made pattern is, nature and will always take back the space.

Work is researched with photography and drawings before screen-printing and digital printing transfers these ideas into textiles as well as laser cut and manipulated areas.

These designs and techniques have created a large Moroccan inspired intricate collection of textile pieces for both fashion fabrics and interior pieces such as cushions, rugs and wall pieces.
