Recently shown at the Milan Furniture Fair, the new inlaid timber and pewter tiles from Rara Design would be a welcome addition to any home, contemporary or traditional.

 

Rara’s award-winning design-duo, Laura Carnell and Grant Jones work in consultation with each client to produce individual designs with meaning. Recent projects include a table with an inlaid map of London, awards for the Unlocking Cornish Potential initiative and a bench with a line tracing the route from a client to her daughter.

 

All pieces are constructed by an experienced cabinet-maker from FSC Certified timber and inlaid in the material of choice.

Laura Carnell is a recent graduate of the Contemporary Crafts course at The Combined Universities of Cornwall, Tremough Campus, and a member of the Association of British Pewter Craftsmen. Winner of the architectural category of the Society of Pewterers’ competition, 2007 and winner of the 2007/8 competition to design and make the awards for the Unlocking Cornish Potential initiative.

 

Grant Jones graduated from the Design for Sustainability course at The Combined Universities of Cornwall in 2006. His work was displayed at the Milan Furniture Fair as well as the New Designers exhibition and has been featured in several mainstream publications. He is an experienced cabinet-maker and specialises in sourcing sustainable materials.
