The judges chose Shan's Pinch vases (pictured left) for their "sensual quality and simplicity".
Shan is using the prize money to set up her own business.

The New Designers Portland Design Award
Simon won this award for his design for the Dudley Zoo Bear Ravine Extension. The judges rewarded him for the "creative flair in his visual and verbal understanding throughout his work, from start to finish".
Simon is now working full time for Portland Design.

The New Designers Tigerprint Award
Tamsin won not one, but two awards at New Designers 2005. She used the award money to fund a computerised embroidery machine and to help set herself up in practice.
