The Orb, compromises of a lounge style chair, ideal for relaxing in, with an unusual, one-armed asymmetrical form, providing the user with a range of different seating positions. The chair is constructed from a ply wood framework, upholstered in a quality, felt fabric, produced by Kvadrat. The combination of materials used within this design, are chosen specifically to enhance the overall aesthetics and quality of the product. Westergaard designs aims to set up as a small, bespoke furniture design company, providing contemporary furniture, including timeless pieces, which will be fashionable in the home for years to come. With a form is equal to function approach; beauty and practicality of the designs are essential to the westergaard design products. Polly recently graduated from the Three Dimensional Design degree at Northumbria University on which the orb chair was initiated. Throughout her study, Polly wanted to explore her Scandinavian Heritage, and took much inspiration from Danish designer Arne Jacobsen. From this the Orb chair was created.
