Linda Exhibits In One Year On 2008
Linda Marie Young graduated last July with a first class degree in Mixed Media Textiles. Within a year she has set up as a professional designer/maker and has been selected to exhibit in the prestigious ‘One Year On’ at New Designers 2008 alongside 26 other exceptional designers.
Linda creates unique boxes by layering luxurious fabrics and papers with intricate embroidery, combing texture and detail through heat manipulation, print and delicate cutwork by hand.
The innovative techniques and highly original designs have already won Linda the coveted Embroiderers Guild £1000 Scholarship Award 2008/09. In a design world which becomes increasingly competitive, Linda’s range is especially desirable and is a truly new and different idea.
The concepts behind Linda’s boxes are fascinating - originally inspired by herbal remedies from an old Temperance bar in Lancashire, close to where her family owned a Green Grocers in the early twentieth century, she has continued her journey into family history creating a new collection of boxes inspired by the luxury adverts in her Great Grandmothers 1920’s treasured magazines.
She has also created an indulgent wedding collection and especially enjoys creating a bespoke box for a customers special occasion.
