'Tip Me Off'
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Helen Bradley helenbradleydesign@hotmail.co.uk +44(0)7930168924 ‘Tip Me Off’ Inspired by the interaction people have with products, Helen Bradley, a Northumbria University graduate in 3D Design, has created a light, which has to be ‘tipped up’ in order to turn it off. Helen has put a fresh and fun spin on an everyday object that is so often taken for granted. The lampshade is kept up right, in the ‘on’ position, by a clip at the top of the stand and by unclipping it and tilting it on its head it turns the light off. Made from a variety of materials including a cast resin base, a steel stand and an aluminium lampshade, this product is not only striking to look at but it has function and meaning, making it an ideal lighting solution for a variety of interiors. The basic system comprises of a tilt switch within the handle and once it is released from the stand and tipped on its head, the connection is broken and the light switches off. Every component has been carefully thought out and designed in a way to explain its use. The cut out on the aluminium lampshade indicates to the user how to put it down to turn it off. Helen strongly believes that design should have a purpose, be aesthetically pleasing and provoke a reaction and with her ‘tip me up’ light, she has achieved this. The lamp stands out due to its unusual features and it offers a fun, stylish and innovative way to light up your room.
